Vinyl, Oregano, Espresso
Bring Your Own Bull Shit. When realizing standards often become expectations, and expectations are often far from attainable, one begins to notice the dissatisfaction of society. Our often egotistical culture, within modern day America, is a repetivitive cycle of illusiveness. Our romatnticized view of life is unsettling, deceitful, and insincere. As a culture, our attempt to reamin above water is only a means to convince ourselves that we in fact are on top. BYOBS speaks to our faulty attempt to disguise our best. Made entirely of Oregano, a common Italian spice, the viewer smells the sweet aroma of their "bullshit" clothed as beauty.
Via. After witnessing a conflicting culture, the confrontational behavior of the Italian female was transformative in my outlook on American culture. I became frustrated with the ignorant behavior of mankind. There is no need to tread lightly with feelings, when truth overwhelmingly speaks otherwise. Our rendering of truth is often skewed, compromised or even ignored for comfort sake. Embodying the attitude of an Italian woman, I realized this ignorant behavior was inexcusable, yet seemingly unavoidable. In turn, our response to this became 'via' - harsh, vulgar, offensive, truthful. "Basta, va via ragazzi." Made entirely of Espresso, the viewer quickly transported to an environment requiring transparency through an Italian cultural experience.
